Since the inception of Forget Me Not Children’s Home, our dream has been to buy enough land to support 60 children and 30 Nepali staff, build a medical facility and potentially a school. What a dream!!
In 2007, the great land search began. We searched high, we searched low, we searched in between – every trip to Nepal by our Australian Committee was focused on achieving this dream. After much trekking, looking, recording and many meetings, in April 2009, we made real headway in the land search and located several plots of land that were suitable for our purpose. In July 2009, our Land and Building Committee (Pete Mackay, Peter Duyst and Stephen Haigh) visited Nepal and bought THE PLOT!!
It’s about 27,000 sq meters with beautiful views of snow capped peaks. Currently, the very luscious and fertile land is covered in crops – but it won’t be for long! Our team, combined with the Rotary Australia World Community Service team are headed to Nepal in February 2010 for the sod-turning ceremony and then work on the land is scheduled to begin straight away!
We continue to work with passion and enthusiasm to give these children a better life.
Why not join us in this journey?
Where our children's home will be built!
